The minute you talk of Indian Bridal wear, bright red lehengas with gold embellishments come to our mind. Red being the traditional wedding color is most favored by the brides-to-be. But the Indian wedding circuit saw some drastic changes in the bridal styles and fashion in the past year, thanks to the extravagant and refreshing designs by the Indian Fashion designers showcased in fashion weeks the year through.

Rarely seen on an Indian bride, Black this year was extensively used by ace designers Shantanu and Nikhil in in combination with gold for their Bridal Collections.

While black made an entry into the bridal collections, gold became the new hot pick for the style conscious brides after Tarun Tahiliani dressed his bride in gold from head to toe. Seen on ramp in different shades, gold became synonymous with royal luxury and vintage charm.

Another hue dominating the bridal fashion circuit this season is white. A color which was once a taboo in Indian weddings is now becoming a classy choice of many brides. Designers like Rohit Bal, Jyotsna Tiwari and the couture label Kotwara by Meers and Muzaffar Ali experimented heavily with white harnessing its ethereal beauty and sophistication.

Another novelty introduced on the fashion weeks this year is the 'Saree-gown'. It combines the classic structure of a saree with the zipped-down practicality of a gown. The result is a classy lightweight outfit that won't come undone as you hit the dance floor for your Sangeet. Designers like Gaurav Gupta, Monisha Jaising showcased several designs during their fashion shows.

Another latest style seen this season is 'Androgynous' bridal wear. The trend was started by designer Raghvendra Rathore through his 'Woman's Bandhgala' Collection. Masculine full collar jackets, dhoti-inspired salwars were a new ramp trends. Short cholis paired with flared lehengas have also become very popular among the brides.
